I love nothing more in movies when the soundtrack rocks.

I love nothing more in movies when the soundtrack rocks. That is the case for not all too many movies – but Almost Famous sure is one of them.

I could list many reasons as to why I love that particular movie but if I can only choose one, then it sure has to be the ‘Tiny Dancer’ scene, when the band, the band-aids and William are all back on the bus after a rough night of fighting.

What I love most about the scene are the two lines of dialogue. William tells Penny Lane that he has to go home (as he promised his mother) and she only replies, “You ARE home.”

The movie puts into pictures what I am convinced of: That music is one of the few things people will always bond over, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or social status. William, a fifteen year old playing adult, and Penny Lane, a girl who is living in her own little world build around the band Stillwater, couldn’t be any different and yet, they do so perfectly understand each other.

But I really don’t want to spoil this scene for you by analyzing it too much.

What I need you to do is to watch this scene from halfway through the movie, when everyone sings along to Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’. And then tell me which scene in the movie world makes you wish you had been there.

I know it is foolish but I wish more things in life could be solved by breaking into a singalong.
